May 11th 2020 – The winner of the second edition of the Renata Thormann Procianoy Award will be announced during the 2020 Best of Asco Brazil, an event carried out by LACOG – Latin American Cooperative Oncology Group and the Instituto Ética, to be held online from June 8-11, 2020.
The award was created by the The Cure Project Institute to highlight and recognize investigators of scientific works in the oncologic area. The scientific commission, led by the medical director of the Sírio Libanês Hospital and professor at the Academy Of Leadership Sciences Switzerland, oncologist Dr. Max Mano, will be responsible for selecting the Brazilian clinical trial bearing the highest impact in 2020. In addition to Dr. Max Mano, additional 6 oncologists integrate the commission.
The president of Cure, Fernanda Schwyter, feels sorry for the impossibility of holding the event physically due to the COVID-19, however she highlights the initiative of LACOG to support the online scientific event. “The congress will enable the participants to get acquainted with innovative cancer treatments; additionally, we will resume the planning of the Cure Project to recognize the great efforts of a Brazilian scientist searching for the cure of cancer”, she highlights.
The Brazilian edition of Best of Asco is an event officially authorized by the ASCO – American Society of Clinical Oncology. The meeting will present the scientifically most relevant and important works of the ASCO Annual Meeting.
The first edition of the Renata Thormann Procianoy Award took place during the 2019 Best of ASCO; the winner was Dr. Thiago Bueno.
